Meet Pastor D.R. Anderson, Senior Pastor
Greater Johnson Baptist Church

Pastor Dennis Ray Anderson; 43, was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma on November 27, 1960. He has been the husband of Janice M. Anderson for the past 17 years. She is currently an elementary school teacher at Johnson Elementary. He is the father of Charity R. Anderson who is 16, and currently attending Patrick Henry High School.

Pastor Anderson from his early existence has grown up in the Church. He is the grandson of Dr. C.M. Franks, former Pastor of the Corinth Baptist Church; Ardmore, Oklahoma and Moderator of the Chickasha District Association of Oklahoma for 24 years. After moving to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma his family united with New Hope Baptist Church under the late Dr. J. D. Provo. It was there were Pastor Anderson served in the Jr. Choir and in the Jr. Brotherhood.

In 1976 Pastor Anderson�s mother, Lera Anderson decided to move the family to the city of San Diego, Upon arrival we united with Calvary Baptist Church, Rev. S.M. Lockridge, Pastor. But most of Pastor�s Anderson�s Christian upbringing was at the New Hope Baptist Church in the city of Los Angeles, Rev. O.B. Byrd, Pastor.

After serving in the U.S. Army and being Honorable discharged in 1985, Pastor Anderson gave his life to God and united with Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ, Elder Ernest Thomas, Pastor. Under the leadership of Elder Thomas, Pastor Anderson served as a Jr. Deacon, Jr. Sunday school Teacher, and eventually as an Assistant Pastor. While in the Churches of God in Christ for over 13 years, Pastor Anderson also served as a Sunday School Superintendent, Evangelism President, Youth Department President., and Youth Department Regional Vice President under the First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Southern California, Bishop J.A. Blake Sr., Bishop Charles E. Blake and under the Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Southern California, Dr. George Dallas McKinney, Bishop

It was in 1991 were Pastor Anderson felt the call to move from the Churches of God in Christ and unite with St. Mary�s Baptist Church, under the late Rev. James Johnson Sr., Pastor. Pastor Anderson served as an Associate Minister and an Adult Sunday school teacher under Rev. Johnson. After serving for 2 years under Rev. Johnson the St. Mary Church nominated and elected Rev. Anderson as its next Pastor in October 1993. Under the leadership of Pastor Anderson St. Mary�s which is now called Greater Johnson Missionary Baptist Church has experienced Exponential growth, Going from 3 members to over 400 members at this present time and also providing two spiritual worship services on Sunday Morning.

Pastor Anderson�s Education background:
A.A. Degree Life Science (Miramar Jr. College); B.A. Degree Religious Studies (San Diego State University); currently seeking a Masters in Theology Degree

Devotion Team leader: Progressive District Association of Southern California 9 yrs.

Pastor Anderson enjoys; traveling, reading, writing, walking, sports, and just being himself
